LA Carnival Youth on Parade – Last day to apply!
International Eye Los Angeles is pleased to announce its 2023 creative residencies in Caribbean carnival arts and multimedia presentation. The program, ‘LA Carnival Youth On Parade™’, teaches youth, 14-24 years old production and design skills to express their artistry and creativity. Partially funded by a California Arts Council grant, participants will receive stipends between $200 and $500 while developing transferable, project-based skills.
The residencies will take place on two campuses, one in MacArthur Park and one in Leimert Park. Each campus will have two cohorts, a Young Designer Cohort (age 14- 17) focusing on costume design and fabrication; and a Youth Leadership Cohort (age 18-24), focused on leadership and producing. Presented in collaboration with Los Angeles Carnival, participants will be integral collaborators in the LA Carnival and Festival of Arts scheduled for Sunday, June 25th in Leimert Park.

Child Mind Institute Youth Mental Health Academy- Summer opportunity!
Students aged 16+ may be eligible to participate in a community-based career development program through the Child Mind Institute called the Youth Mental Health Academy (YMHA).
The YMHA offers each participating student the opportunity to:
- receive up to a $2,000 stipend for completing project-based learning
- acquire career skills and knowledge
- build their resume
- develop professional networks
- work on a capstone project with a group of their peers
- be inspired to pursue a career in a mental health-related field
The project-based learning portion of the program will take place from June 19 through July 22, 2023. Participants will also complete an internship in a mental health-related field during the summer of 2024. Through project-based learning and ongoing programming in the 2023–24 school year, students will receive mentorship and support from experienced professionals.
Youth Mental Health Academy participants receive:
- First summer: Paid project-based learning around mental health issues, symptoms, treatment, and careers, and an opportunity to complete a capstone presentation (with a stipend of up to $2,000).
- Academic year programming: College planning workshops and other community-building activities.
- Second summer: A paid internship in a mental health-related field.
- Duration of program: Mentorship from an early-career professional or a college or graduate student pursuing a health-related career.

Community Service Club hosting a Blood Drive with The Red Cross on Friday May 19th!
Hello Da Vinci Connect Students and Faculty! The Community Service Club has partnered with The Red Cross to host a blood drive on Friday, May 19th! Students who meet the height and weight requirements and are 17 or older OR 16 with parental consent are eligible to donate! The more donors, the better, as your blood will save lives! Variety Kids4Kids Fundraiser! This Saturday May 6th!
Variety Kids4Kids is a small group of kids ranging from ages 12 to 17 who started this charity in August 2020 to empower kids to help other kids in need. Variety Kids4Kids helps other kids with art supplies, school supplies, clothing, food, athletic supplies, books, and tutoring.
The goal of this event is to raise funds to continue their important and life-changing mission. Based on compassion, kindness, and love, their goal is to better, even change the lives of children by inspiring kids to help other kids.
