Summer 2025 Impact Makers South Bay Cohort
Applications are now open for the Summer 2025 cohort, which kicks off the last week of June.
Impact Makers – Building Skills for Life is an 8-week summer program that empowers high school students to better understand themselves and the world around them. Through immersive service-learning experiences, participants explore local issues, strengthen their sense of identity, and learn about available community resources. Our Summer 2025 cohort will be our 8th to date, with students from 26 high schools having participated and contributed more than 5,000 service-learning hours to the community.
Group Sessions
Dates: June 24 – August 14, 2025
Time: Tuesdays, 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM
Location: The Volunteer Center, 1230 Cravens Ave., Torrance, CA 90501
In addition to weekly group sessions, students will volunteer 2 hours per week at one of our partner organizations to apply their learning through hands-on community service.
Eligibility
Open to all current high school students.
Cost: Free.
Their first-ever Long Beach Impact Makers cohort is launching this summer. If you would prefer to participate their Long Beach location, please visit their website or reach out to programs@volcenter.org for more information.

Volunteer Opportunity & Community Giveaway: Fresh Produce Distribution at DV Connect K-8
We’re excited to share a meaningful way for our Da Vinci Connect High School students and families to get involved in the community!
This Wednesday, May 14th, the DV Connect K-8 campus will be hosting a free produce giveaway from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm in front of the school. This is a wonderful opportunity to support local families and give back.
Interested in volunteering?
Volunteers are encouraged to arrive by 11:00 am to help with setup and distribution. Whether you’re looking for community service hours or simply want to lend a hand, your support will make a big impact.

allcove Beach Cities Leadership & Wellness Conference
Join young leaders from more than 30 organizations across the South Bay to connect, collaborate and uplift our voices together at our annual South Bay Leadership & Wellness Conference. This event will include conversations about advocacy, mental health, wellness and important topics facing our generation today.
You’ll also have the opportunity to share these priorities with local, state and federal leaders who will join us to kick off the event.
Picture this: young people sharing their concerns, their priorities and the ways we want to care for and support one another towards a healthier future. Through workshops and engaging wellness activities, the Conference is an opportunity to develop and expand your leadership skills and gain innovative tools to engage your peers in conversations that matter to them.
For young people ages 12-25. Free food and prizes are included! Plus, get community service hours.

Join our 2026 International Immersion Trip to Spain!
We will be travelling to Spain from February 21, 2026 to March 1, 2026 (official dates subject to change) and doing a homestay with local families, attending Spanish classes in the mornings, and experiencing Spanish culture at its core through activities such as dance classes, museum visits, and walking tours.
We are holding informational meetings via Zoom Thursday, 5/8, Thursday, 5/15, and June, 6/2 from 6-7pm.
