Also, Learning Log #1 is due next Tuesday, October 5th, 11:59pm. Please make sure you are working on this, adding the necessary documents, links, evidence, etc. Thank you in advanced for your hard work on these!
Youth Advisory Council (YAC) opportunity
This fall the California Department of Education (CDE) will be launching the State Superintendent of Public Instruction’s Youth Advisory Council (YAC). The YAC will be working directly with policymakers and educational partners to provide equitable change to the California education system. If you are passionate and interested in contributing to building a better tomorrow for all learning institutions, please apply by the October 15th deadline. Weekly Update
Happy Friday, DV Connect High School students and families-
Hope everyone had a nice week.
Below is the schedule for next week- you will notice that MAP testing is after lunch, and all classes will be shortened and ending before lunch to accomodate this. MAP testing will take place in your student’s advisories on their normal cohort days: Monday/Thursday, and Tuesday/Friday next week. Please let us know if you have any questions about this.

Lastly, don’t forget the DAILY TRACKER, your “one stop shop” for assignments, due dates, assessments, teacher office hours and their zoom links, and much more! Use this to plan out your at home, asynchronous work days and to keep up to date with what is going on in your classes.

HBCU Summit Series and My Black is Beautiful Girls Summit opportunities!
SATURDAY OCTOBER 16, 2021 (9:00AM – 3:00PM PST)
The HBCU Summit Series presents the: Virtual My Black is Beautiful Girls Summit designed to mentor, educate, nurture and expose our young ladies to positive Black imagery in an effort to unlock their personal potential for greatness.
During the summit, students will experience non-traditional, creative and interactive presentations and seminars, discussing topics on leadership development, Empowerment & Culture, Health & Wellness, Self Imagery & mental health, academic success and career exploration.
All of our sessions are designed to educate, inspire, challenge, and create communicative thought in students to create the next generation of leaders by empowering our young ladies.
The day starts at 9:00AM – 3:00PM PST and will also include the Virtual HBCU Summit, where students will have the opportunity to meet HBCU Representatives to learn about Historically Black Colleges & Universities.
The My Black is Beautiful Girls Summit is designed for Middle & High School students.
Please Note: There are NO Refunds, but you can definitely TRANSFER your ticket to another student. We would need to have both students names to do the exchange.

The Virtual HBCU Summit Series is BACK!! Make sure you REGISTER for one of the dates to attend the HBCU Summit. Students will get an opportunity to speak with lots of HBCU Representatives about the many opportunities of attending an HBCU, Apply and get accepted on the spot to some of the HBCUs participating, attend the various workshops including the HBCU 101 Experience Seminar!
There is nothing like the HBCU Experience! The HBCU Summit Series is designed to expand awareness of the Black College Experience as well as education, career, and financial aid opportunities for students and their families.

Important Message about Emergency Drill Planned for Thursday, Sept. 23 and Friday Sept. 24, 2021
- Listen and Follow the instructions of their teacher or staff member in the room at the time of the drill
- Stay quiet during the duration of the drill
- Silence/turn off their cell phones and stay off their phone during the duration of the drill
- Wait for the “All Clear” announcement to indicate the drill has concluded
College Virtual Fair opportunities!
DV Connect HS students,
The California State University, University of California and Association of Independent California College and Universities are partnering together to provide virtual college fairs this October. All UC and CSU campuses, and a majority of independent colleges and universities from the AICCU, will participate.
All events are free, and students are encouraged to attend and explore these colleges and universities!
Students can register by visiting CACollegeFairs.org and creating an account on Visit Days. The fairs for Southern California high schools are scheduled for:
Southern California 1: Wednesday, October 6 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. PDT
Southern California 2: Saturday, October 16 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. PDT
Attendees will be able to join live sessions, watch campus videos and visit campus booths to live chat and/or meet with campus representatives.
