Beach Cities Health District: Parent Resources

As we head into Summer, I wanted to share some resources with you as we end this year and transition back to a more normal school schedule this Fall.

South Bay Families Connected Parent Chat
Provided in partnership between South Bay Families Connected (SBFC), Beach Cities
Health District and Thelma McMillen Center, the Parent Chat serves between 10-15 people
per week and offers its participants a confidential and supportive space to share their
parenting challenges and successes. Dr. Moe Gelbart, Executive Director of the Thelma
McMillen Recovery Center, is the lead moderator for the group and offers his professional
insight and expertise when needed. The first Summer Chat will take place on June 28, 10am-11am. Click on the link above to access the zoom chat link for the Parent Chat and for more info, other dates, etc..

Please click on the following link for further details and access to the
SBFC Virtual Events Calendar.

South Bay Families Connected Teen Center
The SBFC Teen Center was created for South Bay youth by South Bay youth who recognize the
mental health challenges that so many teens face during this challenging time as we stay safer
at home together. To create connection and to share tips for wellness, they have either
produced the following videos, or helped us curate them from national sources.
Explore through a variety of resources ranging from social and emotional wellness, common
challenges, building positive connections, harm prevention and how to stay motivated and
present during COVID-19.

Take a look at Da Vinci Schools Families Connected, part
of the South Bay Families Connected (SBFC) project. The
intention of this platform is to provide students and
families with the resources needed to help navigate
challenging situations and develop healthy habits.

Attend Live Virtual Campus Tour in Spanish with UCLA!

Hello from Westwood,

On behalf of UCLA Campus Tours, we would like to invite your students, families and school to a Virtual Live Spanish Tour next Thursday, May 27th from 6:00 – 7:15pm PST.

Over the last year, as we transitioned from in-person to virtual tours, our guides have seen the benefit to reach even more students via a virtual platform. With their continued advocacy and concern to reach more members of the community we have implemented a Spanish language tour.

This event will consist of a one-hour campus tour followed by a 15-minute live Q&A. Throughout the tour, students and their families will be encouraged to submit their questions via Zoom’s Q&A feature.
