Attention Juniors! Scholarship opportunity available!

The Coolidge Scholarship application is now live. This scholoarship application is for current high school juniors only.

The Coolidge Scholarship is a full-ride, four-year, merit scholarship that may be used by recipients for undergraduate study at any accredited college or university in the United States. Any high school junior who plans to enroll in college in the fall of 2023 and is an American citizen or legal permanent resident is eligible to apply (current high school seniors are not eligible to apply). Winners may use the scholarship to pursue any academic major.

Academic excellence is the primary criterion considered by the Coolidge Scholarship. Secondary criteria include an interest in public policy and an appreciation of the values President Coolidge championed. Successful candidates will also demonstrate humility and have a record of genuine service to their communities. A complete description of the scholarship’s eligibility is available by clicking on THIS LINK. FAQs can be found HERE.

Alert: the application requires that candidates read President Coolidge’s Autobiography and complete a few other reading assignments. While the book is not overly long, we encourage students to begin the application early. Candidates who begin the application at the last minute are unlikely to be successful. The submission deadline is 5:00 PM eastern time, Wednesday, January 19, 2022.

Weekly Update

Hello and Happy Friday,

Please CLICK HERE for slide deck from the 9th and 10th Grade College Family Meeting Wednesday evening. Please let you counselor know if you have any questions!

Please don’t forget to join us for the “Western Harvest Festival” this coming Wednesday, October 27, 6pm-8pm. This event will take place in the West Plaza at 201 N. Douglas St. There will be games, food, and a raffle! Make sure to dress in your best western attire! (This is not a Halloween event, so no other costumes, please.)

Recently your learner sat for the MAP assessment. In the coming days you will be receiving the results of that assessment in the form of a “Family Report”.  The “Family Report” is being mailed to your home and should arrive in a few days. Please take time to review the “Family Toolkit” published by NWEA which provides insight and information on how to understand MAP Assessment in general and how to interpret/read MAP results. The Family Toolkit can be accessed here:

https://www.nwea.org/the-map-suite/family-toolkit/.

Please review the entire toolkit, but pay particular attention to the “What is MAP Growth” video, “Meet the Family Report” blog and the “Family Guide to MAP Growth” guide.

Here is a sample family report, please click on this link: GR_SampleFamily

We want to make sure that if you have any questions about the scores once received, Dr. Johnson along with your learner’s counselor and teacher would be happy to coordinate a meeting to discuss and support you as you review your learner’s scores. Any questions about MAP, please email Dr. Johnson at kjohnson@davincischools.org

As always, CLICK HERE for the link to the Daily Tracker, a “one stop shop” for all assignments, due dates, test dates, homework, projects, etc.! Its a great tool to use to build your asynchronous at home work days. Students and families can both use it to stay on top of all classes.

There is a normal cohort schedule next week: Mon/Thurs and Tues/Fri, 9:15am-3:15pm.

The weather forcast for Monday currently is predicting 90% chance of rain. For our Mon/Thurs cohort, please plan accordingly! Umbrella, rain jacket, rainboots will be helpful!
