USC is inviting rising high school seniors to USC’s 16th annual African American/Black and Latinx Junior Day on Saturday, June 3rd, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the USC Campus. Junior Day is free to attend and students will need to pre-register for the event.
As our first event for the 2023-2024 academic year, this half-day program is an opportunity for students to discover the vibrant African American/Black and Latinx communities at USC. At Junior Day, attendees will hear from current USC students, alumni, faculty and staff, while also learning about the various components of a USC application and how to tell their story through the college essay. Optional campus tours will be available during the event as well.

I am excited to announce that Connect High will be hosting a Summer AI-Gaming Opportunity for two weeks. During this program, students will have the opportunity to engage in gameplay, project design and collaboration. They will also have the chance to interact with AI-based mini games, allowing them to explore their visions of the future through their creative work. Students will have four hours a day over the course of 2 weeks (July 18- July 27), to build transformative experiences using emerging technology. To learn more, click here. Da Vinci Families,
Rising Communities is an organization that has developed a Learning for Equity curriculum to address the ongoing systemic and institutional racism. Rising Communities is offering two free 10-week summer programs taking place June8th-August 12th. It is offered to high school students ages 15-18. The programs aim to provide students with valuable knowledge and skills through their virtual courses and workshops focused on policy at the local and state level. Through these programs, students will have the opportunity to learn how to be culturally responsive, practice advocacy and engage with stakeholders. Upon completing either summer program, students will receive an educational certificate accredited by Pacific Oaks College, and in recognition of their participation they will also receive a stipend of $1,000. I am excited to share an opportunity for senior students who are interested in photography. The Bridge program is a 16-week hybrid opportunity for emerging photographers aged 18-26. This program provides students with a platform to expand their knowledge and explore various aspects of photography. Students will receive mentorship from industry professionals to develop their projects. This program is free and the application deadline is May 26, 2023. Rivet Schools will be offering virtual application sessions for students this Friday (5/19/23) and next Thursday(5/25/23) to support all interested students in completing their Rivet School Application. A Rivet representative will walk students through the application and also just answer any additional questions or concerns you might have before the June 2nd deadline.
