WHAT TO KNOW FOR STUDENTS FROM MIXED-STATUS FAMILIES:

The California Dream Act Application (CADAA) is now open for applicants with contributors who do not have a social security number and are unable to submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) recently made this option available to allow students to meet the May 2, 2024, state and institutional financial aid priority deadlines.

Students and their non-SSN contributors who choose the CADAA option, should continue to pursue the StudentAid.gov account creation and identity verification process to successfully complete the 2024-25 FAFSA and maximize their financial aid opportunities. The CADAA does not provide access to federal student aid.

For more information on how students from mixed-status families can access the California Dream Act Application, visit the CSAC CADAA for Mixed Status Families webpage.

WHAT TO KNOW FOR STUDENTS WITH FAFSA CORRECTIONS:

The U.S. Department of Education says corrections to FAFSA are widely available. They’ve also said schools should receive an updated transaction record within 1-3 business days and a student should be able to review a new FAFSA submission summary in the same time frame. Visit the California Student Aid Commission’s Instagram post for more information.
