Free Application for Federal Student Aid and California Dream Act Application  
The state deadline to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form and California Dream Act Application (CADAA) is currently April 2, 2024. All colleges and universitites (4 year and 2 year) encourage students to complete and submit their application as soon as possible.

 

FAFSA Updates for Students with Contributors without a Social Security Number
Due to recent technical updates, students with contributors without a social security number (SSN) should now be able to successfully submit the FAFSA form according to an announcement made last week by the U.S. Department of Education.Students in this scenario may still encounter trouble submitting the form, however, a resolution is being worked on. Troy Philippines USC Campus Tour #2 and Upcoming Events

USC will be hosting another workshop, TPOP #2, which will take place on Sunday, March 24 from 4pm-6pm! Students are welcome to join for a USC campus tour led by Troy Philippines’ tour guides! While touring the USC campus students are encouraged to ask questions while they participate in brief activities about Filipino culture. Please RSVP to TPOP #2 here!

Following the workshop, Troy Philippines will also be hosting their annual Pilipinx American Cultural Night (PACN) performance in the Trojan Grand Ballroom from 7pm to 9 pm. Students are invited to join for this amazing spectacle of the celebration of Filipino American culture through an original composed musical, traditional dancing, and more! Students, parents, and families who would like to see the musical performance are invited to attend, FREE OF CHARGE! Please RSVP to PACN here!

SAVE THE DATE: Their final TPOP meeting and largest event of the year, TPOP SUMMIT, will take place on Saturday, April 13th from 12-2 pm. They will have a USC admissions ambassador come to speak about the college application process. As well as have the opportunity to connect and network with active university students in Troy Philippines! Students get the chance to learn about real world experiences regarding all things from careers to the college experience through our Troy Philippines members! 2024 West Basin Municipal Water District Student Art Contest! Win an iPad!

West Basin’s “Being Water Wise Is…” Student Art Contest puts the #Art in #STEAM education! Student artists inspire their communities to support water conservation as a way of life by creating eye-catching artwork with smart water use slogans.

 

This year’s new theme, ‘Being Water Wise Is…,’ replaces last year’s theme, ‘Water is Life’ to encourage students to explore the importance of wise water usage in our communities. 3-D, sculptures, and computer generated art media are now accepted!

 

Submissions Due: Friday, March 15, 2024

Must be postmarked or e-mailed by 5:00 PM

Portal Learning Opportunity at Da Vinci Connect High School!

This Wednesday anytime between 9-11am The Reinvention Lab from Teach for America ran a summer program at Da Vinci last year for students to complete projects aligned to their interests using AI tools! They are working to make the program even better and are hoping to test a few new ideas and tools with you this week. (10th & 11th) UCLA Bruin Ascent Summer Experience- Online Scholarship Program!

 

UCLA’s Bruin Ascent Summer Experience (BASE) is a brand new needs- and merit- based online scholarship program for current 10th and 11th grade California high school students. The program takes place over six weeks, from June 24 – August 2, with selected students enrolling in one UCLA summer online course free-of-charge, gaining mentorship from a current UCLA undergraduate student, and participating in co-curricular workshops.

UCLA will be hosting an informational webinar for BASE on Tuesday, March 12 from 5-6pm, where students and parents can learn more about the application process and its program components. If you would like to attend, they will need to complete the RSVP form.

Banson NYC Fashion Summer Camps

NYC Fashion Summer Camps for High School Students…

Banson NYC is excited to offer 2 In-Person NYC Fashion Summer Camps for high school students in 2024.  They are designed for teens entering 9th through 12th grades.  Each week-long session will teach students the fundamentals of the fashion industry by providing an insider’s perspective.  Students will stay at a hotel in Midtown.  All rooms have quad occupancy, have 24-hour security, a Resident Advisor, private bathrooms and flat screen TVs.  Our camps run from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday-Friday so check in will be between 12:00 – 3:00 pm on Sunday and check out will be on Friday by 5:00 pm.  We accept applications on a first come, first served basis.  Tuition includes the following;

  • 5 Nights in Midtown Hotel
  • Visits to Key Players in the Industry
  • Attend Interesting Fashion-Related Seminars and Lectures
  • Participate in an Educational Shopping Trip
  • Visit a Well-Known NYC Museum to See a Current Fashion Exhibit
  • Attend an Information Session at a NYC Fashion College
  • Participate in a Photo/Video Shoot in Central Park with a Professional Fashion Photographer and Receive a Video of the Experience after Camp
  • Group Dinners on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday Nights
  • Manicure / Pedicure Treatment on Thursday Night
  • Lunch on Final Day of Camp
  • MetroCard for Duration of the Camp
  • Enjoy the Excitement of NYC!

 

The cost is $2075.00 per student or $1875.00 per student if you register with a friend.
